  2. Prepare 750 ml of red grape juice.
  3. You need 60 grams of caster sugar.
  4. It's 1/4 tsp of mixed spice / pumpkin pie spice.
  5. It's 1 of zest of 1/2 an orange.
  6. It's 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract or paste.

  2. Put the pears in the pan. They should be covered by the juice. Bring to the boil then simmer for 25 mins or until soft.
  3. Put the pears to the side and keep warm. Bring the juice to a rapid boil until it has reduced by half and turned syrupy.
  4. Serve the pears hot or cold with the syrup poured over. I serve vanilla ice cream on the side and hubby likes custard with his.
